Dalyan Guide

What to see around the hotel, and how to get there.

İztuzu Beach

İztuzu is the sandbar where the Dalyan channel opens into the Mediterranean. The sea lies on one side and the channel and its reed beds on the other.

The beach is an important nesting ground for the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) and is protected. During the nesting season it is closed to visitors at night, and nests on the sand are marked off.

You can reach the beach from Dalyan by boat along the channel, or by road.

Kaunos and the Rock Tombs

Kaunos is the ancient city on the far bank of the Dalyan channel. Its remains include a theatre, an acropolis, an agora and bath buildings.

The rock tombs that have become the symbol of Dalyan are cut into the cliff below the city. Their façades are carved as temple fronts, with columns and a triangular pediment, which is why they are often called the king's tombs.

The tombs are visible from the Dalyan waterfront, looking across the channel. Reaching the ancient city itself means crossing to the far bank.

Sultaniye Hot Springs and Mud Baths

The Sultaniye hot springs lie on the southern shore of Köyceğiz Lake.

Alongside the thermal pools there are mud baths, and the site is one of the regular stops for visitors staying in Dalyan.

The springs are reached from Dalyan by boat, along the channel and across the lake, or by road.

The Dalyan Boat Trip

Boat trips leave from the quay in Dalyan and follow the channel as it winds through the reed beds.

The usual route takes in İztuzu Beach, the ancient city of Kaunos and the Sultaniye hot springs. The rock tombs come into view from the water along the way.

Trip length, stops and departure times vary between operators. Ask at the quay, or at reception, for current details.
